I love banana-qs. I was in Cebu from April 5th till the 25th and I ate banana-qs every day. I could buy 1 stick with 2 pieces on it for 10 pesos and a liter of coke for 25. I did not care for the coke though. The banana-qs over took the sugar in the coke and it tasted just like carbonated water. Also, depending on when the guy wanted to show up I could buy them on the public market between 8 and 10 am and throughout the day if need be. I agree with “The Girl” and Paoix, eat filipino food!!!
i think banana should not be soaked in syrup coz its nuturally sweet already.it will just burn the banana. which will contribute to bitter taste. i’m from zamboanga and we grow banana in our backyard. we just simply cooked it and coat it with caramelized sugar afterwrds. why dont you try doing it. i would rathed cook the banana in deep oil to have an even cooking of the banana.
Well, that is rather fascinating. I started my web search for bananas simply because I wanted to come across a fantastic recipe for banana pie. Some how I came across your website. I am very glad I took the time to read your page. Fascinating how the internet can move you around and support you to learn so quickly. Thanks for the wonderful insight. I
John, I’m glad that I was able to open your eyes to Filipino food. There are actually a lot more types of bananas than what canbe found in a grocery store in the US. I hope you’ll be able to try some of them at some point in the future. Their tastes are so varied and I’m sure would make very fantastic and complex banana pies.
I hope you come back to the site for more info and get comfortable enough to try some of the recipes.
